When they were kids, Jeremias and Aaliyah always used to team up while playing hide and seek with their respective siblings. Aaliyah would whisper into his ear ‘I know a place where no one would find us’ and Jeremias would clasp onto her hand tightly, allowing her to guide him anywhere. Back when they were children, Jeremias would have gone anywhere with Aaliyah. He probably would still do it, if she hadn’t broken his heart the night before.

Yet she still dropped by that night. She still snuck into his house, probably to drop off some of the things he left at her own place. Maybe because she realized that they were perfect together and ever separating was the most inane idea ever. That’s what Jeremias had hoped would happen, although it didn’t stop him from breaking into his father’s liquor cabinet that night.

“I know you’re in here, Aaliyah. Stop hiding, I don’t want to play games anymore,” he called out into the seemingly empty den. He knew she was there. He could smell her perfume. He could feel her. When they played their games as kids, they would always team up. If they were separated then they would always find each other first.

Now Aaliyah didn’t want to be found.

alltheportraits:

Jeremias’ heart thudded loudly in his chest and seemed to echo off the walls of the hospital corridor. He could never remember feeling this scared or nervous in his entire life. Hospitals didn’t really freak him out, but this one was starting to. He was starting to feel antsy and all he wanted to do was see Aaliyah.
His mother and father stood with him, Maia soothingly rubbing his arm as Aaliyah’s doctor, Dr. Monroe, explained to Jeremias that Aaliyah might need to have a cesarean section performed in order to safely deliver the baby.
“They’re in the middle o-“
Dr. Monroe’s words were drowned out from a pained cry from down the hallway to his right, the voice unmistakably Aaliyah’s.
There was another doctor milling about a few yards outside of the room from which the cry had come, examining a chart. Jeremias started down the hall without heeding any of Dr. Monroe’s words.
“I want to see her,” he said, his long legs bringing him closer to the room.
The doctor looked up at the sound of Jeremias’ voice and slipped the chart back into its rightful place outside of the door. “Wait,” he said, holding his hands up as Jeremias approached, obviously intending to head around the man and straight down to the room. “You can’t go in there just yet.”
Down in the delivery room, large lotus flowers of pain were blooming in Aaliyah’s midsection. It was unlike anything else she had ever felt and caused her to double over as she held onto her engorged stomach, willing the pain to subside. She wished she could change her mind; hold off on the labor for maybe a few more months.
She had been reclining, but another sharp burst of pain propelled her into a sitting position and she keened out through clenched teeth as the doctors and nurses surrounding her tried to coach her through it. She may have been better suited to handle it had she not been alone.
“Where’s my boyfriend? I want him in here. I need him in here. I can’t do this,” she began to cry, her voice wafting out into the hallway. They had told her that a C-section might be necessary and ultimately she would do what she needed to ensure her baby’s safe delivery, but the thoughts of going it alone terrified her beyond compare.
Jeremias was in the middle of arguing with the doctor outside of her room as his parents and Aaliyah’s regular doctor hurried down the hallway. Maia knew her son well enough to know that though he was usually calm, when his temper did flare – and in a situation like this it would be inevitable if someone didn’t step in – it would lead to an unsatisfactory situation.
Jeremias quickly looked up at the sound of Aaliyah crying for him. “Aaliyah!” he called. “I’m right here! I’m coming!”
“You cannot –“ the other doctor was in the middle of arguing.
“Jeremias!” Aaliyah called back, hearing his voice. “Jere- ah!” she was interrupted by another pain.
“Get the fuck out of my way!” Jeremias snapped, moving to rush pass the doctor who grabbed him by the shoulders to try to force him back, though the younger man dwarfed him by at least 5 inches. “Let me see her!” he demanded, his eyes focused on the room where Aaliyah’s cries seemed to grow more desperate with each passing moment.

You stopped right before the part where he punches that doctor in the face. >_> I love everything about this. I feel what the characters are feeling. The anxiety Jeremias is going through along with the pain that Aaliyah is in. HE BETTER GET IN THERE. And such fitting pictures. Everything about this is so amazing. Like you <33333333333333333

Title: PDA

Cast: Anton Yelchin, Rashida Jones, Emma Watson and Max Irons (as requested by kcee)
Tagline: Sleep When You’re Sedated
Summary: Justin (Yelchin) and Sarah (Watson) are twins with something else in common along with their genetics. Neither of them had an easy time falling asleep. When they were babies they fussed. When they were children they cried. When they were young adults they branched out with different ways to numb how tired they were when the medication and therapy didn’t work. Justin spends his time in a 24 hour cafe, opening up to a caring server Maria (Jones). Maria is studying to become a psychologist and Justin allows her to prod his head in an attempt to help. The normally quiet and reserved Justin finds this surprising, but welcomes it.
Sarah turns to parties and drugs. She takes advantage of the quiet of the night by doing all she can without being seen. Like her brother she is getting smaller, but unlike him she gets a lot louder and still visible. At one of the clubs she frequents she meets Tyler (Irons), a open-minded yet somewhat naive visitor from Britain. She shows him what the city has to offer while everyone is sleeping.

This isn’t a story about sleeping. It’s about what is missed during hours normally reserved for slumber.
